PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
The qualifying learner achieving this unit standard will be able to plan and organise Sport activities for an identified target group. The learner will be able to take into account the different needs of target groups as they relate to age differences, abilities and interests of the target group as well as the availability of a facility, venue or playing field and improvise where necessary.

Competent qualifying learners in Sport organisation will provide safe, quality and positive experiences to participants and volunteers and thus strengthen the Sport profession in general.

In particular, on completion of this unit standard, the learner is able to:

  • Establish an organising committee to oversee the activities.
  • Compile an activity plan for the agreed activities.
  • Administer the logistics of the activity.
  • Market the activities within the community.
  • Deal with participants and volunteers.
  • Evaluate the experience.

    In addition the learner will be well positioned to extend their learning and practice into other areas of Sport or Recreation organization, or to strive towards Sport, Recreation or Fitness management standards and practice at higher levels.
